Company Summary:

Vasomune Therapeutics is a private biotechnology company developing the next generation of medications to harness the body’s ability to defend against illness by modifying cellular response to disease. The company’s lead drug candidate AV‐001 targets a signaling molecule in the vasculature responsible for regulating the Host Vascular Response (HVR) to injury. Unchecked HVR leads to vascular leak which is associated with a wide range of disease such as Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome (ARDS), acute kidney injury, diabetic retinopathy and cardiopulmonary bypass.

Job Summary:

Reporting to the Senior Director, Nonclincal Development, the Research Assistant utilizes scientific knowledge and skills to perform standardized laboratory research techniques and procedures. The successful candidate will be able to process non-clinical and clinical specimens within standard operating procedure guidelines, compile data from related and/or unrelated sources, as well as communicate and maintain records of specimen/experimental data. Additional duties will include general laboratory upkeep and maintenance, including reagent ordering and inventory management, processing, antibody titration, media preparation, tissue culture and data logging. Outstanding organizational skills, along with the capacity to ensure proper compliance with research protocols and biological safety measures are mandatory. Previous experience ina company in the life sciences industry (pharma, biopharma, diagnostics, medical device) is strongly preferred. Proficiency in English with excellent written and verbal communication skills are required. The successful candidate will be self-motivated, technically proficient, organized, and will work well in a team.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Generate, characterize and maintain animal and mammalian endothelial cell lines
  • Design, optimize and execute a broad range of biochemical and cell-based assays to characterize the efficiency and potency of synthetic PEGylated peptides
  • Responsible for generating cell-based activity data  to drive translational development
  • Analyze experimental data using GraphPad Prism and Microsoft Office Suite
  • Keep accurate, detailed, up-to-date laboratory notebooks
  • Summarize data for presentations and reports
  • Contribute to technical reports, study reports and manuscripts
  • Collaborate with research development team members to accomplish organizational and corporate goals
  • Maintain good laboratory practices
  • Assist with general lab management tasks as needed
  • Maintain laboratory facility and supplies

Qualifications:

  • Minimum B.Sc. in biochemistry, biological sciences, or related discipline, with 2+ years’ industry  experience running cell-based assays, or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Demonstrated experience with ELISA, binding assays or flow cytometry is preferred
  •  Able to conduct experiments, analyze data and perform troubleshooting without supervision when needed
  • Quick learner, entrepreneurial spirit and work ethic , able  to work with a small and versatile research team committed to meeting tight deadlines
  • Strong interpersonal skills that inspire and earn trust  with team members, partners and collaborators
  • Superior written and verbal communication skills;  able to communicate clearly and credibly with business partners, executive leadership, and exterior collaborators
  • Flexible and adaptable working style;  willing to take on new assignments and resilient to respond to new challenges
